who is behind caleb & broad...
Rich Willis, on right, created and owns Caleb & Broad. Rich has a long time history in Newport being Born and raised here. Willis has been in the restaurant business for more than 10 years and previously managed the Marina Cafe and Pub on Goat Island. Rich can be seen everyday working in his establishment, either behind the bar, waiting tables or day to day management work.
Ryan Loeven, on left, is the Head Chef at c&b. Ryan got his interest/influence in cooking from his father, who was a Chef for the Coast Guard for 20 years. Ryan graduated from Connecticut Culinary Influence in 2008 and moved to Newport for his first job. He met Rich working as a prep cook for the Hyatt Newport's restaurant, Pineapples, where he worked his way up to Supervisor of the Windward Kitchen. Ryan next moved onto the Marina Cafe & Pub where he was a Sous Chef for 2 years and Head Chef his final year. He then moved cross country to further his culinary career as a Sous Chef for the Hyatt Denver Tech Center. This is when Rich called him to move back to Newport and begin the Caleb & Broad journey!
